Dr. Kris Ruijgrok is a former group member of the ERC-funded project Authoritarianism in a Global Age, at the Department of Politics, University of Amsterdam. He received his PhD in Political Science in July 2018. For his PhD research he used a mixed-methods approach to study the role of Internet in street protesting in authoritarian regimes. For his dissertation he has conducted fieldwork in Malaysia studying the role of internet in the Reformasi period at the end of the 1990’s and the more recent Bersih protests. Kris graduated cum laude at the University of Amsterdam in 2011.
